I tried another new recipe!!
I was super easy and I had all the ingredients already on hand!
The photos from the book always look so yummy!
My photo looks different, but still yummy and all of us liked it! Another hit!
This was a great weekend!! We took one of the days and got a way for a few hours to the beach. We were able to convince the older two that they could take a break for homework and come with us!! SCORE!
We stayed way longer than we had planned, it was almost dark by the time we started home, but what a great time! The older kids seemed tired, but ready to finish their homework once we got home – such a win.
My 13yo daughter still very much enjoys her American Girl Doll and we still subscribe to the magazine. Well… in one of the magazines there was a “recipe” on how to make these fancy ice cubes. We just had to give it a try.
First we cut up the fruit into little pieces and put them into an ice cube tray.
Then we added 7up to the tray and put them into the freezer. After they were frozen, we put them into a cup of apple juice. YUMMY!!
It appears that if you bring an alligator lizard into your home, and he is thriving, that he will eat and eat and eat. In order that the proud parent of said lizard not have to go to the pet store every other day to buy more crickets, a “Cricket Keeper” was in store for us.
A Cricket Keeper is just a little plastic cage with dark tubes for the crickets to hide.
Of course if one is going to keep crickets as pets, one must feed and water them. We learned that crickets will drown if given a bowl of water to drink, so they have to be given these little gel like things and that is how they get their liquid. We also now have cricket food.
In addition to crickets, our lizard eats meal worms. We place the worms in this little cup and he eats them at his leisure. Usually two minutes after they have been added to the cage! Here he is looking for more food. Never mind he just ate five meal worms – one right after the other! – a few minutes ago.
Oh, and now he has a name, Baby Dino. How cute is that?!
This was super interesting. It took him a few days to shed, but it came off all in one piece. That brought about quite a bit of excitement in this household, I can tell you that!!
One thing I love to do is bake bread. And my family loves to eat home baked bread.
I bought this book several years ago and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!
There is no arduous kneading of the dough. You just put the ingredients all together into the mixer, mix them up and set the bowl aside to let the dough rise.
Once the dough is roughly twice in size, a filling can be added (or not) and the dough can be shaped.
For our family, those two loaves only last for one meal. Guess I’d better get back to baking!
I have been having a great time with the kids in my class. I introduced them to spool knitting, which is really i-cord, and they LOVE it. I decided to show them something other than bracelets that can be made with spool knitting.
A necklace!! Now the kids are making headbands and necklaces during break time.
I used two different colors to show my students that their choices are pretty much endless.
A cute little flower added for decoration.
Watch for some more i-cord prettiness coming soon.
Sometimes we just don’t have time in between activities to get out and do something together as a family on the weekends. I know, that’s pretty sad isn’t it?
This was one of those weekends, but we did manage to get away for a nice neighborhood “walk” today. The kids wanted to put on their roller blades.
It didn’t take them long to get super far ahead of us. That game my husband and I some time just to walk and talk alone – just us! Such a rarity right now.
They had to stop and sit down for us to actually catch up to them. All in all, we only went about 3 miles around the neighborhood, but it was so fun and nice to slow down for just a little bit.
The other day, my 17 year old found the cats playing with something in the front yard. She went to investigate and found them playing with…
He had already shed his tail and my daughter was worried about him. She asked me if we could keep him and in a weak moment I said yes. So now we are the proud parents of an alligator lizard – who is eating more than his weight in crickets and meal worms.
