SAL Update

Well…this is a day late!  I had every intention of updating yesterday and then we decided to go on a family outing up to the city.  We had a great time, but I completely forgot about the SAL update until about 10 minutes ago when I sat down to do some stitching.

This SAL is really fun.  Usually a SAL is when many people all stitch the same project at the same time.  This one is different in that each of the participants are stitching something of their own choice and updating once every three weeks.  In that way, we all will complete something while having a great time together.  The project that I am working on is “Candy Cane Santa Stocking” by Dimensions for my 17 year old son.

This is where I am now:IMG_1095

I started the red because I got tired of just using the cream for the background.  I really like the contrast between the two colors.  Here is where I was last time:IMG_1020

I worked on the letters and only have the back stitching on them left to do, I did a bit more of the cream background stitching and then of course the red.  All in all I am pleased with my progress this month.

Please take a moment to take a look at what everyone else in this SAL has been working on for the past three weeks:

We have a new player, Jackie — welcome Jackie!!

  1. You are making good progress. I like the red. I know what you mean about getting bored with a color.

  2. You’ve made a great amount of progress! That Red really brings it to life doesn’t it?

  3. Connie, excellent progress! So, are you one of the people I’ve heard of that do half crosses only when they have the time, then do the second cross when they need to multi task? I’ve thought of trying that but never have. If that is your approach, tell me more about the difference or speed of stitching, etc. if you can!

    • Hi Kathy, the pattern actually calls for half crosses in certain areas. If I am doing cross stitches, I always do the row 1/2 one way and then finish on the way back – the red shows my progress with this. I guess half stitches are quicker, but I like whole cross stitches much better. That being said, I do like the different textures when both are used together.

  4. better late than never! are you planning on finishing this for this Christmas?

  5. Looking great so far 🙂 I’m not sure whether you know this but you can write a post and schedule it to publish at a date and time of your choice. That way, you can have the post written in advance if you wish and schedule it for SAL day. I have to do that for most updates.

  6. Hey, good progress! I like the shading in the background of the name section. I haven’t shown it yet but I just finished a project in cream and red – and it wasn’t a Christmas project!

  7. Nice colors 😊 Looking forward to seeing this become a stocking!
