I am thankful for being able to walk (alone-no kids) with my husband on a Sunday morning. Don’t get me wrong, I love being with the kids, but it’s very nice, now that they are older, that we get some time together – just he and I.
We leashed up the dog bright and early last Sunday and walked out to the Baylands. The air was crisp and cool and the sky was sooo very clear.
When you get out early, you can almost always see a whole group of Night Herons along the bank over there. I only had my phone camera so they are not very clear, but there were more than a dozen scattered about.
As we went on walking we saw this group of white pelicans. These guys are my favorite – they look so awkward as they try to lift off to fly (and also as they are landing) but are so majestic when in the air. They look almost prehistoric.
We passed by a Great Blue Heron. My photo does not do justice on how handsome this guy is.
All in all we were out for about two wonderful hours. Just chatting about this and that. I find comfort in the fact that after 26 years and 5 kids, we are not tired of each other. We still enjoy each other’s company – I am truly thankful for that.
