HQAL = Hand Quilt-A-Long. This is a group run by Kathy over at Sewing Etc. Each member works on a project of their own and we post about it every three weeks (I have been remiss in the most recent past). This is a super supportive and truly amazing group of stitchers, all are very talented. Please, if you have a moment, take a look at what they have been working on:
Kathy, Lori, Margaret, Kerry, Emma, Tracy, Deb, Connie, Susan, Nanette, Sassy , Edith, Sharon and Bella.
The project I have been trying to work on has been stalled for quite awhile. The time to post about this has come around and around again and again and I have not been able to bring it out of time out.
I had been working on a Grandmother’s Flower Garden.

The biggest problem is that after hand sewing these hexagons together, I decided I wanted some embroidery around all of the seams. I used my sewing machine – BIG, BIG mistake! I really, REAlly, REALLY hated the way it looked and decided to pull it all out. That task is easier said than done. I have probably put about 3 hours into pulling those stitches out and am not even close to having them all gone. I am so disappointed. I’m not sure what to do…I’m now thinking that I will just hand embroider over the machine stitching and see how that looks.
Being part of this HQAL however, made me take this project out of time out and take a look at it again. I realize how much I like it. I like the pattern, I like the fabrics I have chosen, and I find it truly relaxing to do a little hand stitching at the end of each day.
This is the color of the next flower that I will be working on. Thank you to Kathy who did not give up on me and has still included me in the HQAL even though I have not posted and have not worked on my project. I am hoping to have much to show in the next post!
I have not been sitting idle even though this project has taken a back burner. I have gone back to teaching in my studio!! I am running summer camps right now and have been having the time of my life. I love teaching!! If you get a chance, take a look at what we are up to in the studio: Let’s Go Crafting
