About the SAL

This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL. If you’d like to finish a project you’ve left unfinished for a while, or start a new one with us, you can join us by contacting Avis.

Class Samples

It seems that lately I am mostly making samples for my summer camps and classes!IMG_3940

I know this guy is sort of wacky looking!!  I am totally in love with him.  He is my own design and I am hoping the kids in this week’s camp will want to try to make him!!

These were made from a pattern and are super simple to make.  They include three different crochet stitches (DC, HDC, and SC).  One camper from last week already made a pair for herself in a cream colored yarn and they were so cute!!

More Samples

I always feel like I need to upgrade my sample projects for the kids in my classes and camps!img_3773

I made this cute little butterfly pin that I saw on Youtube.  It is quite quick to make up.  I wonder who will make this little guy?img_3776

A new little purse to carry things in and…img_3783

A cute little pouch that I almost lost!  Dear Hubby decided that this one was perfect for his sunglasses.  I’ll have to whip up another one just for him!

HQAL Update

I take part in a Hand Quilt-A-Long with a group of very talented stitchers.  If you would like to join us, the information is below the picture of my progress.img_3850

I didn’t get that much done, but it felt good to be working on it.  Hopefully, I will have the stitching done on this one, and the next one cut out by our next update.  Please look below for all the information to join us if you wish and the links to all the other stitchers who are taking part in our HQAL.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

Student Recommendations

Right now I am in my busy time for teaching.  I run summer camps all day everyday and am having such a great time.  This past week, we were having some challenges in keeping the pins off of the floor.  I have these magnetic pin holders that the students are supposed to carry with them to the machines and put the pins on there instead of leaving them on the table to roll onto the floor.  On the third morning of camp last week, I pulled all the students together and asked them what we could do to keep the pins from getting on the floor and pilling up on the tables.  One of them had a great solution!!

Pin cushions that attach to the sewing machines!!img_3570

My daughter, who is home from college, asked if she could help me!  What a treat to be sewing with my daughter!  She chose all the fabrics, we made the pin cushions together, and sewed the straps all while talking and have a great time!img_3672

I even made myself a wrist pincushion!  I can’t wait for camp this week to see if these sewing machine pin cushions do the trick!
