Sal Update – January

I always love the New Year.  It’s always so full of hope and excitement.  New Year’s resolutions have never really been my thing as I tend to make little adjustments and goals throughout the year for things that I feel are important to me and our family.  That being said, I have decided to try to provide more home (completely from scratch) meals this year.  I know that requires more planning and forethought, but I think I am up to the task!

Now, on to the real meat of this post!!  I have been stitching!  This is where I was last timeimg_4816

and this is where I am now…img_5156

Here is the closeup of Santa’s face…img_5157

I am completely thrilled to have the face done except for the back stitching!!

This SAL has really  been a great thing for me.  The stitchers involved are soooo supportive and creative.  I like that I was able to choose my own project to finish and I am thankful for the three week checkin as it keeps this project at the forefront of my mind!  If you have a chance, please take a look at their work – it is totally awe inspiring!

I am also linking up with Kathy at Kathy’s Quilts for Slow Stitch Sunday.

Also linking to Kate’s Life in Pieces — I was able to stitch at least 15 minutes a day each of the last 7 days!!  WOOHOO!

  1. Yey, he’s got a face 🙂 Looks quite tricky to do several skin tone shades.

  2. Such a jolly Santa!

  3. Santa is looking fab, great shading on the face. 🙂

  4. Oh wow! Santa has a face now. Well done! Is the rest of the chart half stitches?

  5. Great progress, it’s looking quite pretty

  6. Fantastic progress! Santa’s face is so jolly!

  7. Its looking awesome!

  8. Well done Connie! On to the next window pane!

    • Almost. I have some of the foliage on the left hand side to finish and then I’m trying to decide if I want to move on to the next window pane or complete the backstitching in this section.

  9. Wonderful stitching, Santa was a little creepy when he was faceless. You just pushed me down a “rabbit hole” now I have all those links to check out ans the link up. So much for stitching today, just teasing. I have put in a few stitches already.

    • I agree that Santa did look a bit creepy! I totally felt that way yesterday as I was looking at all the beautiful stitching that everyone was showing for the SAL. I managed to get a little bit done but not much!

  10. I’m so glad he’s got a face now 🙂 It’s a lovely piece of work, and I hope you’ll show us the piece in use next Christmas!

  11. Santa has a great face! Such brilliant progress!

  12. What a gorgeous project. I love this stocking.

  13. Santa! I know him! (I love “Elf”!) Love his jolly face — this project will help us all honour Christmas in our hearts, and try to keep it all the year. (It’s not often I get to paraphrase Dickens and “Elf” in one comment!)

  14. Santa looks lovely! So fun when areas get all filled in and you can see your hard work.

  15. Such a difference now we can see the face Connie. I like your idea of more home made meals as they are so much better for you. My hubby does most of the cooking but hes quite good at making things from scratch and I manage to eat quite a bit more when he does so.

    • Thanks. I do cook most nights, but sometimes I have used prepackaged foods and I’m trying to stay away from them. I’m finding it a little difficult to always find dinner that everyone likes (there are 8 of us) and find myself in a slump for new ideas.

  16. I love Santa’s face! What a huge difference it makes. Good luck with your food prep too!

  17. Santa is looking so happy! Guess everyone have been nice last year and now he is looking forward to the next Christmas 🙂

  18. That’s looking great !

  19. That’s a lot of detailed stitching! Santa looks great. That’s a lot of stitching time to make that much progress. Congrats on finding time each day last week. Hope this week is as good.

  20. You got loads done! I love Santa’s face.

  21. Santa looks fantastic! You made great progress. I look forward to seeing how it looks on Sunday!
