August HQAL Update

I have been busy this month!!  Deconstructing the Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt

These flowers were previously attached to green hexi “leaves” and then attached to each other.  There are 18 separate flowers now.img_0209

These are all the green hexis that were used for the leaves and vines.  I did not count them, but there are lots!

I am so glad I finally made the decision to take this apart.  I was not feeling good about the project and now I’m feeling great.  I can’t wait to lay them out and organize them and start putting them together again.

I did finish a new flower and get part of the way done with another

I just love the little monsters!

Once again, I am excited to work on this project now that I can see a new path with it.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

  3. I think you made the right choice on that. Each

  4. oops I wasn’t done 🙂 Each of the flowers are so gorgeous and fun. The green seemed to take away or over power them…is that what you were feeling? May be a pale green for binding it all together? I have some special memories with this pattern and I love your quilt and am excited to see it done.

  5. Hurray on finishing a rip out!👏👏 looking forward to seeing the new.

  6. It’s always so hard to take a project apart but then I’m always glad I did! Looking forward to the new improved version, happy stitching!

  7. So happy you have that little task behind you. The flowers really look great, I’m looking forward to seeing your new layout!

  8. Your brave – I hate having to correct mistakes but if your not happy what do you do but start again so I am looking forward to your future layout. The flowers look lovely, happy stitching!

  9. What an accomplishment to have taken all those green hexies off. I am impressed. I recently started a flower garden quilt inspired by you and Kate from Chiconia. I took inspiration from you to frame my flowers with a white border and I like the results so much. Thank you and Kate for the inspiration.

  10. Lots of work, but well worth it, you will enjoy the quilt more with the light!

  11. I look forward to seeing what you are going to use instead.
