Beach Day!

This was a great weekend!!  We took one of the days and got a way for a few hours to the beach.  We were able to convince the older two that they could take a break for homework and come with us!!  SCORE!

Surf fun!

We stayed way longer than we had planned, it was almost dark by the time we started home, but what a great time!  The older kids seemed tired, but ready to finish their homework once we got home – such a win.

Family Time

Sometimes we just don’t have time in between activities to get out and do something together as a family on the weekends.  I know, that’s pretty sad isn’t it?

Roller Blading!

Roller Blading!

This was one of those weekends, but we did manage to get away for a nice neighborhood “walk” today.  The kids wanted to put on their roller blades.

Waaaay up ahead!

Waaaay up ahead!

It didn’t take them long to get super far ahead of us.  That game my husband and I some time just to walk and talk alone – just us!  Such a rarity right now.

Waiting for ( and tying a skate) for slowpoke parents.

They had to stop and sit down for us to actually catch up to them.  All in all, we only went about 3 miles around the neighborhood, but it was so fun and nice to slow down for just a little bit.

Roller Derby!

We decided to go outside the box and do something completely different.  We were able to get some discount tickets to the Roller Derby.

Family Time

We have really gotten into the habit of going somewhere on the weekend as a family, if only for a little bit.

I am so grateful that my kids still like to hang with me.  Even the teenagers have fun on our little outings!  Such simple pleasures.

Family Time

Sometimes my husband and I feel over busy.  It seems as if we are always going here and there, driving kids to activities, games, music lessons, etc.  Carving out some time to be together as a family is very important to us.  Last weekend was a big volleyball tournament weekend for one of our kids, soccer games for another, playdates for the other two….  You get the picture, everyone going their own way but no time spent together with just the family.

Since the volleyball tournament was multiple days long, we got home at a reasonable time and decided to get everyone out for a walk together.

I just love all the birds that we see when we visit here.  It’s not very far from our home, but we don’t make it out here often enough.

The views are spectacular.  Walking here is always so relaxing.

Such a happy dog – I love this picture showing the shadow of our youngest holding her leash and walking her!

Oops!!  The leash got away from J and Kate is in the water!

We stayed out there quite awhile and took advantage of the lengthening days.  We did make it back just before the sun totally disappeared, but the sunset was gorgeous.  I’m so glad we decided to get out.
