It seems that lately I am mostly making samples for my summer camps and classes!
I know this guy is sort of wacky looking!! I am totally in love with him. He is my own design and I am hoping the kids in this week’s camp will want to try to make him!!
These were made from a pattern and are super simple to make. They include three different crochet stitches (DC, HDC, and SC). One camper from last week already made a pair for herself in a cream colored yarn and they were so cute!!
I have been having a great time with the kids in my class. I introduced them to spool knitting, which is really i-cord, and they LOVE it. I decided to show them something other than bracelets that can be made with spool knitting.
17 year old modeling our new necklace sample.
A necklace!! Now the kids are making headbands and necklaces during break time.
Two different colors.
I used two different colors to show my students that their choices are pretty much endless.
A cute little flower added for decoration.
Watch for some more i-cord prettiness coming soon.
I have been working on this in between other projects.
It has been a fairly simple knit, just in lots of pieces. The only things left are to embroider, stuff and sew together – then this little knit dolly will come to life :o)
My company, Let’s Go Crafting, teaches fiber arts to kids. During the school year we focus on knitting and sewing, but during the summer, in addition to knitting and sewing, we teach crochet, weaving, and jewelry making. I am constantly making samples to show the kids what kinds of things they are capable of making.
This is our newest sample – “Snowday Earflap Hat” from the book Knitting for Children. This book is a really nice book for kids who would like to learn to knit.
This hat is super easy to make once you know the knit and the purl stitch. I would say that most of the students in our knitting class have the ability to make this hat. I hope they try it!!
Of course my son had to also get into the pictures!
